First patients in clinical trials for BIO-X project Catheasy
The company Catheasy, supported by BIO-X, has started a clinical validation study and recently brought in their first patients.
Catheasy is a Västerås-based company that has developed a universal device and method for insertion of urinary catheter, which allows safe and non-traumatic catheterization of men and women with any urinary catheter.
– Our medical device is designed to prevent injuries, bleedings and infections associated with urinary catheter application, Christopher Holmström, CEO of Catheasy says.
The aim of the recently started open, multicenter, randomised clinical investigation is to evaluate the performance and safety of the Catheasy device. The equipment is used during urethral catheter insertion and removal in patients with indwelling catheters. During the clinical validation study the efficacy, properties and safety of the Catheasy method is compared to the approach used to insert and remove urethral catheters in men today.
– This is an important milestone for Catheasy, Christopher Holmström says. We are very excited to get the opportunity to validate our device on patients and look forward to the result.
